Kaloian “Kal” Dimitrov Tcherkezov was born In Varna, Bulgaria in the mid 80’s and moved to Canada at the young age of 4 and would live in just about every Province until settling in Ontario. Possibly as a result of repeat upheavals, Kal would turn to television as an escape. Marveling at the fantastical locations and camaraderie, he would take this inspiration to create character’s and worlds of his own. This initial hobby would lead him to to Sheridan college where he would receive his Bachelor’s in Animation. Focusing on film making and storytelling as a whole rather than any single job specialty.

Work History:
Professional Career started in 2010 as a freelance Filmmaker, Storyboard artist, Concept artist and Animator. His first commercial credit is as a Lip Sync artist on “Ugly American’s” Season 1 but would go on to ANIMATE for “Grojband”, “Total Drama Island - ALL stars”, “super Simple Learning”, “Amex commercials”, “Super Science Friends”, “The Adventures of Napkin Man”, “The Curse of Clara”, “Corner Gas: Animated”, “Todd and the Book of Pure Evil”, “Gary and His Demon’s S02” and many pilots and trailers. Midway through his career he would start to primarily work as a STORYBOARD ARTIST starting with “The Curse of Clara” and later “Dot”, “Corner Gas: Animated” before advancing to the role of ASSUSTANT DIRECTOR on “Hailey and the Hero hearts” and “Bubble’s Hotel”, where his wide skill set was most utilized and tested. EDUCATION He would then take all that combined experience as a varied artist and generalist and write and teach a 13 month intensive on the whole animation pipeline. Focusing the course around the Toonboom Suite and animation Specifically at Edison College Canada.
